The very same people who whine about American jobs going overseas are the same people who regularly buy foreign-made products. If you really want jobs to remain in the US, then it’s very very simple. Only buy products made in the US. But remember, you’ll have to pay more money for those products. You’ll have to dig deeper into your wallets and purses. You’re pretty much going to have to minimize your purchases at Wal-Mart.
Oh, and you’re going to have to be careful about those Toyotas and Hondas and Mazdas and Subarus, Lexus, Mercedes, BMWs, VWs, etc. Yes, many of those vehicles are assembled in the US, but they are made by foreign companies. Same with those French wines and German beers. You’re going to have stick to American beverages. Italian, Greek and Spanish olive oil? Forget it. Those iPhones you love so much. They’re made in China.
It’s not that complicated. You want American jobs? Buy goods and services that originate in the USA. Otherwise, quit whining. Personally, I love my VW. It was assembled in Mexico. The engine was built in Germany. I get up to 55 miles per gallon. Fords, GMs, Chryslers? You can keep ’em. I’ll never buy one. It’s called personal preference, freedom of choice. It’s called free market capitalism… It’s what has made our country an economic superpower.
And now we want to reject that? Why? Because Americans are increasing so sedentary, obese, chronically ill, and hooked on prescription meds that we can’t pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps and get to work. Instead, we want to listen to a man-child tell us how unfair the world is treating us? Gee, let me go look for a violin. This is how we’re going to Make America Great Again? By retreating, by isolating ourselves? By gathering up our marbles and going home in a huff?
